Cell Biology Research Laboratory

In the cell biology research laboratory; Studies on toxic effects of various chemical, metal and pesticides in plant tissues, animal tissues are carried out. Cellular level studies are; determination of nuclear abnormalities, determination of mitotic index, determination of apoptosis stages by using light microscopy and fluorescence microscopy. Example of researches in laboratory are: Determination of apoptosis stages in fluorescent microscopy by ethidium bromide-acridine orange dual staining in plant and animal tissues; Determination of nuclear abnormalities, micronucleus and cell division index in fish erythrocytes by using fluorescence dyes; Determination of antioxidant and antiproliferative effects of plant extracts, Conducting in vitro cytogenetic studies with blood tissue culture; Chromosome aberrations, Sister chromatid exchange, micronucleus detection, mitotic index; Determination of genetic damage in plant, animal and blood tissues by using Comet test method. In addition, obtaining plant tissue extracts and investigating their antiproliferative activities on cancer tissue lines are among other research topics. Cancer tissue lines studies are carried out in the tissue culture laboratory.
