Limnology Research Gruop

Limnology research group aims to investigate the biological structure and physicochemical parameters of freshwater ecosystems by the employees of the Hydrobiology Department. In this context, it examines the distribution of organisms (benthic macroinvertebrates, phytoplankton, zooplankton, fish, crayfish, etc.) found in all kinds of inland water systems (lakes, ponds, rivers, dams, lagoons, streams) in our country and which are an important factor in the sustainability of these systems. In addition, many analysis experiments of water are carried out both with multiparameter devices and manually. These experiments are also carried out with our students practically in undergraduate laboratory courses. By investigating the physicochemical analyzes of water, its effects on living things in aquatic systems are evaluated. Ecological risk assessments of the examined water ecosystems are carried out through water quality studies. Pollution loads in aquatic ecosystems and their negative effects on these ecosystems are also investigated. At the same time, living groups are researched taxonomically and contributions are made to the fauna and flora of Turkey.
