Ecology

Ecology department was founded in 2009 under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Çamlıtepe. The current head of the department Prof. Dr. Zühal Okyar. There are 3 lecturers and 1 research assistant in the department currently. In ecology department, studies on Lepidoptera, Heteroptera and Acarina (Eriophyoidea) taxonomy, nutritional and parasitoidic  relations between insects and plants, as well as natural and laboratory ant behavior studies and ethnozoological studies are carried out. In addition, joint studies are carried out in various fields with the lecturers of other departments, mainly to determine the parasitoids that can be used in the biological control of butterfly larvae, which cause economic losses in agriculture and forests.
