Fundamental and Industrial Microbiology
SCIENCE BRANCH OF BASIC AND INDUSTRIAL MICROBIOLOGY
Basic and Industrial Microbiology Science Branch had been established in 2009. Teaching and research activities started in 2010 which still continues at the Faculty of Science. Prof.Dr. Ece ŞEN has been the chairperson since the establishment of this science branch. There is one professor (Prof.. Dr. Ece ŞEN) an one teaching assistant ( Dr. Deniz AKSOY) in this science branch.
Our Research Areas:
Molecular microbiology, Microbial genetics, Microbial biotechnology, Philogenetic analysis and species identification of microorganisms.
Our Research Subjects:
Molecular epidemiology of newly emerging bacteria (Borrelia sp., Leptospira sp., Anaplasma sp.)
Assesment of environmental carcinogens by using bacteriological Ames test
Molecular analysis of bacteria-cancer relationships
Salmonella, their mechanisms of pathogenesis and molecular identification
Newly emerging pathogens in environmental water sources and their molecular identification
Assesment of efficiency of new water pollution indicator microorganisms
Development of rapid diagnostic DNA chips
Microbial insecticides
Tick-borne newly emerging pathogens
Development of biological control methods against ticks.
