Fundamental and Industrial Microbiology

SCIENCE BRANCH OF BASIC AND INDUSTRIAL MICROBIOLOGY

Basic and Industrial Microbiology Science Branch had been established in 2009. Teaching and research activities started in 2010 which still continues at the Faculty of Science.  Prof.Dr. Ece ŞEN has been the chairperson since the establishment of this science branch. There is one professor (Prof.. Dr. Ece ŞEN) an one teaching assistant ( Dr. Deniz AKSOY) in this science branch.

Our Research Areas:

Molecular microbiology, Microbial genetics, Microbial biotechnology, Philogenetic analysis and species identification of microorganisms.

Our Research Subjects:

Molecular epidemiology of newly emerging bacteria (Borrelia sp., Leptospira sp., Anaplasma sp.)

Assesment of environmental carcinogens by using bacteriological  Ames test

Molecular analysis of bacteria-cancer relationships

Salmonella, their mechanisms of pathogenesis and  molecular identification

Newly emerging pathogens in environmental water sources and their molecular identification

Assesment of efficiency of  new water pollution indicator microorganisms

Development of rapid diagnostic DNA chips

 Microbial insecticides

Tick-borne newly emerging pathogens

Development of biological control methods against ticks.
