Lepidoptera Research Group

In the studies to determine the lepidoptera fauna of Turkey, especially taxonomy of Papilionoidea, Hesperioidea, Geometridae, Noctuidae species were studied. 6112 samples were examined and nearly 500 species were identified in these studies. Among this species, 132 species are the first record for Thrace Lepidoptera fauna and 28 species are the first record for Turkey Lepidoptera fauna. In order to determine the parasitoid of Lepidoptera larvae, which are plant pests, new hosts and parasitoids were identified and introduced to the scientific world in the studies conducted with plants of economic and medical importance.
